Ouidad, Curls, and Jane Carter Products for Twist Outs/Locs

I'm not especially moved in either direction by the products I've used by them.  Except for one- the Climate Control Heat& Humidity Gel.

I've done twist outs with just about everything out there. This give the bounce, hold, and softness that I have yet to find in any product!  But it's crazy pricey.  Like $10 or so for a 2.5 ounce bottle, which for me got about 3 uses. Ymmv.

Curls products smelled REALLY good.  Like cake.  I love cake so I thought I would also love the products.  Nope!  Now I have a cabinet full of delight smelling but useless products. The Whipped Cream Heavy Curl Styling Cream was NOT heavy.  It did an okay job but it didn't work better than the old standard ORS Curly Pudding which is about 1/3 price.

Jane Carter Solution products smell a little tree huggerish<--- yes that word is completely made up, but if you know a tree hugger their house probably smells like this product lol. I still wasn't that impressed but they are a ton more useful than the Curls products :(  I could be using something wrong, idk.

But..... The Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream is a BEAST! Makes locs lay down longer (lengthwise), shinier, shoot sprinkles...all of that! You can overdo it with this product, so use sparingly.  You can purchase it online for about $25 or buy in stores for $35.  It's 16oz and lasts me about a month using on clients everyday.  Maybe it could last other people 3 months or longer.

So if you want a full bodied, super soft twist out use the Ouidad.  If you're going mainly for length use Jane Carter's product.

***Edited to add:  If you have wet and wavy weave, braids or whatever the Ouidad Climate Control will keep your hair from matting up.  I used it on some braids I was going to take down and got another 3 weeks out of it!

  1. I'm out on a mission to get my little man's curls in place. I'll take your advice on the Ouidad Climate Control. I'll let you know how it worked out.
